In 2023, IWC unveiled the new generation Ingenieur watch at Watches & Wonders Geneva, designed by Gérald Genta, paying homage to the iconic Ref. 1832 from the 1970s.

- Design: The case features a combination of vertical brushing, circular brushing, and mirror-polished finishes. The lines have been meticulously re-engineered to present a softer, more fluid silhouette.

- Lugs and Bracelet: The lugs and H-shaped bracelet have been redesigned for better ergonomics, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist.
- Dial:
- Texture: The dial replicates the “grid” pattern from the original Ingenieur SL, created by stamping the iron base to form recessed lines, followed by electroplating. The grid pattern covers the inner area of the dial, while the outer area around the minute markers remains smooth.
- Night Visibility: The hour markers are coated with luminous material for clear readability at night.
- Layout: The dial features a large three-hand layout, with the hour markers and second hand echoing the design from the 1970s. A date window is positioned at 3 o’clock, and the “INGENIEUR” logo is at 6 o’clock.
- Bracelet:
- The bracelet has been faithfully recreated from the original steel bracelet, with materials, craftsmanship, and wearing comfort all precisely matched to the original.
